Pumpkin Carving 101

For 5 years we have escaped the mess of carving a pumpkin. This year we were not so lucky. I was asked by Madison's Kindergarten Teacher to come in and carve a pumpkin for them so they could experience the smell and feeling of the inside of a pumpkin. That is when Madison realized you could turn a pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern. So after weeks of begging I decided to bite the bullet. She and I carved the pumpkin on Monday before Halloween. We had a great time and she actually jumped right in and helped. I think Jason was really impressed that we created such a decent looking jack-o-lantern. I asked him if he wanted me to wait and do it over the weekend so he could help and he said he really had no desire to participate. Jacob of course was napping. The best place for him at this age!
