Unleashing the Beast

Friday night and Saturday night we decided to remove what we have so aptly named the Beast! This plant was put in by our builder and I have always thought it was in the wrong place because it grows over our sidewalk leading up to the front door. I have wanted to remove it for 3 years and decided it was time to unleash the beast! I thought it would be pretty easy to dig up and remove...not entirely true! It took about 45 minutes on Friday night and then another 2 1/2 hours on Saturday evening after a brief rain break and a venture down to Kim and Peter's for more tools to help remove it! I did not take a picture of the beast before we started but if you read the blog entry on Future Gardener then you can see it in the picture of Jacob watering. It is grass-like plant in the bottom left of the picture. I took pictures of Jason, hole, the trash can full of the plant, and the tools to remove it! My parents will be here to tomorrow for the rest of the week so we will be doing some landscaping to fill in the hole as well as other things. I will take pictures of what we do to fill it in!

That picture of Jason is hilarious! That sounds just like our remodel process! Be happy it was just one plant and not a whole house!

We had that plant lining the entire length of our front walkway at out old house. They really are aweful! The roots go on forever! Glad you got it out! Can't wait to see what you do with the landscaping!
