Lights! Camera! Action!

Yes, I have once again blindly committed myself to something. No big surprise says Jason! Actually, I signed up for what I thought was something real easy. Madison's school is having their Scholastic Book Fair next week(theme lights, camera, action movie) and they are setting up and having their preview for the teachers tomorrow. They asked for snacks. I am thinking some cookies or crackers...not big deal I can do that. Then I get the phone call. Would you like to make something or buy something to bring. I can make it what do you need? Then she goes into this long drug out conversation about making cupcakes that have popcorn looking tops. I said well can you send me a picture...I am really more of a visual person. So sure enough the next day I pick Madison up from school and there it is a photocopy. Poor I might add. I am thinking what I have I gotten myself into this time. Well as it turns out it was not that big of a deal. It took a long time to do but I think they turned out cute. For those of you still with me on this here's how it goes. You make a box of cupcakes. You take two miniature marshmallows cut them in half diagonal. You put three of the pieces together in the shape of a three leaf clover. You smash them a bit and then you take the forth piece and dab a bit of frosting in the center and set the forth piece on top. In case you were wondering...for 24 cupcakes it takes over 200 miniature popcorn kernels to create the tops. That's right a mere 200+. There you have it.

Final product. They will be placed in a large tub like at the theaters so it will look like popcorn pouring out.

Can you tell I am proud of myself?

The individual popcorn kernels.

Me in the process of creating the kernels.

Did I mention this is one of my Christmas presents. I used it for the first time tonight. I absolutely love it! Too bad I don't like to bake...maybe I will change my ways.

Oh...this is not a project to do at the last minute! It took 2 1/2 hours to create the kernels. Also, to keep marshmallows from drying out you freeze them. Did I do this...NO. I discovered too late. I have them sealed tightly in a container. I hope they are not too hard tomorrow!

Wow, Cindy! You're amazing. If I were eating one though, I'll admit I would scrape all that cute, hard work right off the top. I'm not a marshmallow fan! Let's hope I'm the only weirdo out there.
